ICICLE was founded in Shanghai in 1997 by husband and wife Ye Shouzeng and Shawna Tao, with a mission to connect man and Nature.

Their aim was to create contemporary clothing to live and work in, always paying tribute to the essential. Drawing on their respect for Chinese culture, traditions, and philosophy, they proposed a timeless way of dressing. Using the most advanced Chinese manufacturing know-how, ICICLE transforms noble fabrics into a refined, functional daily wardrobe. 

This founding ethos is today expressed through the signature Made in Earth. Symbolised by the Chinese characters 之禾 (Zhī Hé), meaning “the sprouting seed,” ICICLE continues to draw on the humility and wisdom of Chinese philosophy.

ICICLE lets textiles speak, using the finest natural fabrics such as cashmere, linen, wool, silk, and cotton. The company proposes a vision of dressing for today and tomorrow, focused on enhancing the experience of living. Its clothes bring the wearer comfort, confidence, and natural élan, serving as quiet companions to modern life. 

Expanding its design perspective while staying true to its origins, ICICLE established a creative centre in Paris in 2013, featuring a couture-level workshop and international design team. This deepened the exchange between Eastern craftsmanship and Western design expertise.

ICICLE has been a vertically integrated company for 30 years, and achieved international renown as a manufacturer and retailer of high-quality contemporary ready-to-wear and accessories. A leading name in Chinese luxury, the brand operates over 240 stores across nearly 110 cities in China, with three stores in Paris.
