LUO QUANMU
Born in 1965 in Nantong, China, Luo Quanmu lives and works between Nanjing and Shanghai. He grew up during the Cultural Revolution, between rural landscapes and factory life. At fifteen, he left school to work in a textile plant. Five years of repetitive labour followed, during which he developed a fascination for the vastness of industrial spaces — their scale, the way bodies inhabited them, the play of light on their architecture.
Passionate about painting since childhood, he sketched in secret, and was admitted to the Fine Arts Department of Nanjing Normal University in 1986.
Today, he is considered one of the most remarkable painters of his generation and has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions and museum retrospectives in China and has participated in prominent group shows across Asia, Europe, and the United States.
