To inaugurate its 2025 season in Shanghai, ICICLE presented the first solo exhibition outside France by painter Cécile Savelli. This Long Road That Leads To The Self, the exhibition invited visitors into an intimate world shaped by quiet resilience, domestic rituals, and understated beauty.

Based in Marseille, Savelli returned to painting after a two-decade hiatus, guided by a renewed commitment to creation. Her work blends oil, ink, pencil, and, most recently, weaving—drawing inspiration from family life and the private sphere. Animals, memories, and household forms inhabit her canvases with poetic softness. Eschewing saturated colours and decorative excess, Savelli composes subtle symphonies of tone and texture. Her explorations of composition, framing, and perspective reveal a deeply intuitive search for lightness, both visual and emotional. With this Shanghai debut, ICICLE celebrates an artist whose work transforms the ordinary into a quiet refuge of grace and experimentation.
