LOLA | Our Invisible Ties

ICICLE Cultural Space, Shanghai

3ʳᵈ June – 7ᵗʰ September, 2025

ICICLE is proud to present Our Invisible Ties, the first solo exhibition in Asia by French multidisciplinary artist Lola Bret, opening the summer season at the Cultural Space in Shanghai.

Born and raised in Tokyo until her twenties, and shaped by the rhythms of Japanese culture, Lola’s artistic journey spans music, calligraphy, theatre, film, and painting—her earliest and most enduring creative instinct.

Now living on the Bay of Arcachon, close to forests and sea, she draws from nature’s cycles to create a delicate, expressive universe where animals, plants, and human forms interlace.

Working with acrylic, ink, water, charcoal, and found natural elements, Lola embraces chance and fluidity.

Her works explore the emotional bonds—kizuna—that connect all living things, inviting quiet reflection on the invisible ties that sustain life.

Instinctive and poetic, her practice blends control with surrender, producing pieces that feel both ancient and immediate.

With this exhibition, LOLA returns to the Asian continent that first inspired her, a circle completed in ink, breath, and silence.
